13 dominican brethren are living together in the Düsseldorf convent of St. Joseph. It is placed beneath the church of St. Andrew - in the very middle of Düsseldorf, the capital of North-Rhine-Westfalia with its 18 mio people. Even more: it is placed in the heart of Düsseldorf, in the lovely old city.
Characteristics of Dominican live are democratic structures, common prayer and study - and to preach; that´s what St. Dominicus (1180-1221), the spanish founder of the "Order of Preachers" (in England known as "Blackfriars") askeded the brethren for.
In Düsseldorf we live together and all of us take part in the different tasks inside the community and in common activities. But everyone is going outside, too, to do his job or to study.
